Bengal Welfare and Cultural Association
Building a vibrant community
Registered in 1996, the Bengal Welfare and Cultural Association — fondly known as BWCA — is a not-for-profit organisation situated in Vasundhara Enclave, a peaceful residential hamlet on the eastern periphery of Delhi. Since its informal inception in 1991, BWCA has steadily grown into a nurturing platform where culture, service, and community spirit intertwine.
BWCA has been instrumental in preserving and promoting the rich cultural and literary heritage of Bengal in the capital. Through tireless efforts and passionate participation, the association has emerged as a beacon for those who value both tradition and progress. Whether it’s organising inclusive festivals or addressing the pressing social needs of the community, BWCA continues to serve with humility, dignity, and purpose.
BWCA has been instrumental , through its tireless efforts, in maintaining the cultural and litrary heritage of Bengal.
On a regular basis we organise Bengal centric cultural events – be it in the form of performing arts or in the sphere of religious festivals like Durgotsava.
Focus Areas

Social and Welfare
Compassion lies at the heart of BWCA’s mission. Over the years, the association has responded swiftly and thoughtfully to the needs of the less fortunate. From distributing blankets and clothing during Delhi’s biting winters to providing food grains during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, BWCA has stood beside those in distress. These welfare efforts are ongoing, and many are carried out quietly — driven by the belief that true service requires no spotlight.

Cultural
Culture breathes life into a community, and BWCA has consistently provided a stage for its expression. Events throughout the year celebrate the artistic depth and diversity of Bengal while welcoming performers and creators from across India. These programmes — ranging from dance and theatre to music and literature — offer a space where creativity is nurtured and shared freely.

Festivals
At the core of BWCA’s cultural rhythm is the annual celebration of Durgotsav. More than just a festival, Durga Puja is a moment of reconnection — with our roots, with our families, and with the larger community. It brings together art, devotion, commerce, and social bonding in a unique and powerful way. For many, it is the highlight of the year — a time of beauty, music, food, and blessings.
Kalibari and Cultural Centre
For the Bengali community, devotion to Shakti — whether in the form of Maa Durga or Maa Kali — is deeply personal and profoundly spiritual. Since its early years, BWCA has carried a shared dream: to build a Kali Mandir alongside a cultural centre that would serve both spiritual and social needs. The intention has always been to create a sacred space where prayer meets purpose, where celebration meets service.
In 2012, that dream began to take tangible form when BWCA successfully procured a 370.06 square metre plot from the Delhi Development Authority. The land, now designated for the Kalibari and cultural centre, stands as a symbol of hope, faith, and determination. Construction has already commenced, made possible entirely through the contributions and tireless efforts of community members, supporters, and well-wishers. When completed, the Kalibari will not only be a place of worship, but a thriving hub for cultural engagement, adult education, senior citizen support, and literary exploration.
Donate
BWCA functions entirely on the generosity of individuals who believe in its mission. We receive no government funding or commercial sponsorships. Every brick laid, every blanket distributed, every programme conducted — it is all made possible because of the kindness and commitment of people like you.
If you believe in what we are building — both spiritually and socially — we humbly invite you to support us. Your contribution will help nurture a space where heritage, service, and humanity converge. Whether it supports the construction of the Kalibari, funds cultural events, or enables our ongoing welfare initiatives, every rupee counts.
All donations made to BWCA are eligible for tax deductions under Section 80G of the Indian Income Tax Act. You can contact us directly through the details below or scan the QR code to donate instantly.
